Whirlpool Dryer Taking Too Long to Dry in Mississauga, ON – Blower Motor Replacement
This Whirlpool dryer repair was completed by our Mississauga appliance repair team after a customer reported that their dryer was taking too long to dry clothes.
The dryer was still spinning and producing heat, but clothes were coming out wet at the end of the cycle. The customer also noticed that the unit had become unusually noisy during operation.
This was a stacked laundry setup, with the dryer installed on top of the washer. That meant the repair required careful disassembly and proper access to the internal dryer components.
Diagnosis revealed a faulty blower motor that was preventing proper airflow through the dryer.
Issue – Dryer Heats But Clothes Stay Wet
The customer’s complaint was very specific: the dryer was heating and tumbling, but the clothes were still wet after a full cycle.
This is an important symptom. A dryer needs both heat and airflow to remove moisture from clothing. If the dryer heats but does not move air properly, clothes can stay damp even though the heating system is working.
The unusual noise was another clue that the problem could be related to the blower system.
Diagnosis
Our technician inspected the stacked Whirlpool dryer and confirmed that the appliance was heating, spinning, and receiving proper power.
After disassembling the dryer and accessing the internal airflow system, the problem was narrowed down to a faulty blower motor.
The blower motor is responsible for moving hot, moist air out of the dryer. When it fails or becomes weak, drying times increase significantly and the dryer may become noisy during operation.
- Confirmed dryer was spinning
- Verified the dryer was producing heat
- Inspected the internal airflow system
- Diagnosed a faulty blower motor
- Confirmed the issue was not caused by the heating system
Repair Performed
The blower motor is not a regular truck-stock item, so the required part had to be ordered.
Once the part was received, our technician returned the next day to complete the repair.
- Ordered the correct blower motor for the Whirlpool dryer
- Returned the next day with the required part
- Removed the faulty blower motor
- Installed the replacement blower motor
- Reassembled the stacked dryer
- Tested airflow and dryer operation
Result
After the blower motor was replaced, the dryer returned to normal operation.
Airflow was restored, the excessive noise was resolved, and clothes were drying properly again within a normal cycle time.
This repair is a good example of why accurate diagnosis matters. A dryer that heats but leaves clothes wet is not always a heating problem. In many cases, airflow is the missing piece.
