Issue – Moldy Washer Door Gasket

Front-load washers are prone to moisture retention inside the rubber door seal. Over time, trapped water and detergent residue can lead to mold growth, causing unpleasant odors and hygiene concerns.

Diagnosis

During inspection, we confirmed heavy mold contamination within the gasket folds. Cleaning alone would not fully eliminate the embedded mold, making gasket replacement the proper long-term solution.

Repair Performed

We removed the contaminated door boot gasket and installed a new manufacturer-approved replacement. The washer door assembly was resealed and tested for proper fit and water-tight operation.

  • Removed mold-contaminated gasket
  • Cleaned gasket seating area
  • Installed new door boot seal
  • Verified proper door seal and water retention
  • Tested wash cycle for leaks

Result

The odor issue was eliminated and the washer returned to clean, safe operation. Replacing the gasket restored hygiene and prevented further mold buildup inside the unit.
