Issue – Northland Defrost Failure

The refrigerator’s defrost system was not operating properly, allowing frost to accumulate on the evaporator. As frost thickened, airflow became restricted and cooling performance declined.

Diagnosis

Northland built-in units house the cooling system in the top section, making access more complex than standard refrigerators. After careful disassembly, we confirmed a faulty defrost thermostat preventing proper heater activation.

Repair Performed

We removed the top-mounted cooling assembly to access the evaporator section and replaced the defective defrost thermostat. The system was reassembled and tested to ensure proper defrost cycling.

  • Disassembled top-mounted cooling section
  • Confirmed defrost thermostat failure
  • Replaced faulty defrost component
  • Verified heater activation during defrost cycle
  • Tested temperature stability after repair

Result

Frost buildup was eliminated and airflow restored. The Northland built-in refrigerator returned to stable, reliable cooling without requiring full appliance replacement.
