Bosch Built-In Oven & Microwave Combo – Magnetron Replacement

This repair involved a Bosch built-in wall oven and microwave combination unit installed inside a kitchen cabinet. The microwave powered on normally, but it produced no heat when running.

Issue – Microwave Running but Not Heating

The microwave portion of the Bosch combo unit turned on, the fan and lights operated normally, but food was not heating. This symptom commonly points to a failure in the high-voltage microwave heating circuit.

Diagnosis

After testing the microwave system, we confirmed that the magnetron had failed. The magnetron is the component responsible for generating microwave energy used to heat food.

Because the microwave is integrated into a built-in wall oven combination unit, accessing the magnetron requires removing the entire appliance from the cabinet.

Repair Performed

To safely complete the repair, two technicians removed the heavy built-in unit from the cabinet. The microwave section was then separated and fully disassembled in order to access the magnetron assembly.

  • Safely removed built-in oven and microwave combo
  • Separated microwave section from oven assembly
  • Disassembled microwave housing
  • Replaced faulty magnetron
  • Reassembled and tested microwave heating operation

Result

After installing the new magnetron and reassembling the appliance, the microwave returned to full heating performance. Built-in combination units often require additional labor due to cabinet removal and complex access, but proper repair restores full functionality without replacing the entire appliance.
