Who actually made my Kenmore appliance?
Kenmore never built appliances — Sears contracted them from other manufacturers. The first three digits of your model number identify the maker, which is the key to finding the right parts. The most common in Canada: 110 and 665 are Whirlpool (washers, dryers, dishwashers); 106 is Whirlpool refrigeration; 253 and 970 are Frigidaire/Electrolux; 795 is LG; 401 is Samsung; 592 is Inglis/Whirlpool Canada. If you give us the full model number from the rating plate when booking, we arrive knowing what platform we’re working on.

Can Kenmore appliances still be repaired now that Sears Canada is gone?
Yes. Sears Canada closed in 2018, but the appliances are Whirlpool, Frigidaire, LG or Samsung units underneath, and those manufacturers still supply parts. The only thing you lost is the Sears warranty and Sears service network — independent companies like Pegasus handle Kenmore repairs the same way we handle the parent brand.

Are Kenmore parts still available?
For anything built in the last 15 years, generally yes — we order the equivalent Whirlpool, Frigidaire or LG part by cross-referencing your model number. Kenmore-only cosmetic parts (badged panels, knobs, control overlays) are the hard ones, since nobody makes them anymore. Functional parts like pumps, motors, elements, valves and boards are usually no problem.

What are the most common Kenmore failures you see?
Because most Canadian Kenmores are Whirlpool-built, we see Whirlpool’s failure patterns: the direct-drive washer motor coupler and lid switch, dryer heating elements and thermal fuses, dishwasher wash pump motors and door latches, and on 106-series fridges the evaporator fan and defrost thermostat. Kenmore Elite front-loaders (795 = LG) get LG’s drain pump and door boot issues. All are routine, single-part repairs.

Is it worth repairing an older Kenmore appliance?
Very often, yes. The Whirlpool-built Kenmore washers, dryers and top-mount fridges from the 2000s are simpler and more durable than much of what replaced them, and the parts are cheap. Where we’ll tell you to stop: a sealed-system failure on a basic fridge, or a discontinued control board on an old Kenmore Elite. You’ll know before any work starts.
