LG Appliance Repair FAQs
Here are the questions LG owners in Southern Ontario ask us most, with straight answers from our technicians:
-
My LG fridge stopped cooling. Is it the linear compressor?
Possibly, but not by default. LG’s linear compressors from roughly 2014–2020 have a well-known failure rate, and when one goes the fridge and freezer both warm up together while the compressor hums or clicks. If only the fridge is warm and the freezer is fine, it’s the evaporator fan, a defrost problem or the damper — not the compressor. We test the compressor and sealed system last, after the cheaper causes. If it is the compressor and your fridge is under 10 years old, our advice is to call LG Canada at the number on the sticker inside the fridge: LG’s 10-year compressor warranty makes their authorized repair far cheaper than paying an independent for a sealed-system job. We don’t do warranty work for any brand. If the fridge is out of warranty, we’re ODP certified for sealed-system repairs and will give you an honest verdict on whether it’s worth it.
-
What do Er FF, Er rF, Er dH or Er CO mean on my LG fridge?
These are LG’s refrigerator diagnostic codes. Er FF is the freezer (evaporator) fan — not spinning or not reporting speed, often because it’s iced up. Er rF is the fresh-food fan. Er dH means the defrost cycle didn’t reach temperature, pointing at the defrost heater, sensor or control. Er CO is a communication error between the main board and the display board. Er IF is the ice-compartment fan. All of these are electronic or airflow faults, not compressor faults, and most are one-part repairs.
-
What do OE, UE, IE, LE and dE mean on my LG washer?
OE is a drain error — the number one LG washer call. Clean the drain pump filter behind the small door at the bottom-front first; if OE returns, the pump has failed. UE means the load is unbalanced; if it happens with every load, a suspension rod or shock has worn out. IE is an inlet error — check both taps, then the inlet valve. LE is a motor or hall-sensor fault on the direct-drive motor, often a rotor position sensor. dE or dE1 means the door lock isn’t confirming closed. FE is overfill, usually a stuck inlet valve or bad pressure sensor.
-
What do d80, d90 or d95 mean on my LG dryer?
They’re LG’s Flow Sense airflow warnings: d80 means the vent is about 80% blocked, d90 about 90%, d95 nearly closed. The dryer isn’t broken — the exhaust duct is. We clean the full vent run and the internal lint path, and check the blower. A dryer that runs with no heat has usually blown its thermal fuse for the same reason, or the heating element has broken. tE1 or tE2 is a thermistor fault.
-
What do OE, IE, AE or LE mean on my LG dishwasher?
OE is a drain fault — clogged filter or a failed drain pump. IE is a fill fault, usually the inlet valve. AE means the leak sensor in the base has found water, and the dishwasher will keep pumping until the source is fixed. LE is a wash-motor fault. CL isn’t an error — it’s child lock, cleared by holding the marked buttons for three seconds. Older LG dishwashers also commonly lose the sump heater assembly, which shows as dishes not drying.
-
Why did my LG ice maker stop making ice?
On LG French-door models the in-door ice maker is the most frequent complaint after cooling. Common causes: a frozen fill tube, a failed inlet valve, an overdue water filter, a failed ice fan (Er IF), or the ice maker assembly itself. Craft Ice models add a second maker with its own failure points. Check the filter and freezer temperature first; if the maker still won’t cycle, it needs testing.
-
Are LG parts available in Canada?
Yes. LG Canada supports its appliances well, and pumps, valves, fans, boards, door boots and compressors are stocked by Canadian distributors. Our vans carry the high-turnover LG washer drain pumps and fridge fan motors. Boards and sealed-system parts ship in a few days by your exact model number, and we return to install them with no second service call fee.
-
Is it worth repairing an LG appliance?
For washers, dryers and dishwashers, yes — the common failures are cheap parts on machines built to last. For fridges it depends: a fan, board or defrost repair is always worth it. A compressor on a fridge still inside LG’s 10-year compressor warranty should go to LG, not to us. A compressor on an older out-of-warranty fridge is a judgment call we’ll make with you based on the fridge’s age and the labour cost.
-
My LG is under manufacturer warranty. Should I call you?
Call LG first. Warranty repairs must go through an LG-authorized servicer or the manufacturer voids coverage. Pegasus is an independent repair company and we don’t do warranty work for any brand. Once your warranty has ended, we’re usually faster to schedule than the authorized network.
-
Do you repair LG appliances in my area?
Yes. We provide LG appliance repair across Southern Ontario from ten local hubs — Hamilton, Toronto, Mississauga, Vaughan, Oakville, Burlington, Brantford, Kitchener-Waterloo, London and Niagara. See our full service area.
