Viking Appliance Repair FAQs
Here are the questions Viking owners in Southern Ontario ask us most, with straight answers from our technicians:
-
My Viking built-in refrigerator isn’t cooling properly. What usually fails?
Viking built-ins are the majority of the Viking work we do. The compressor and condenser sit on top of the unit, and the first thing we check is whether the condenser coil and fan up there are choked with dust — a very common cause of warm temperatures and a compressor running hot. After that: the evaporator fan, a defrost failure icing over the evaporator, a thermistor, or the control board. The sealed system is the last thing we test, not the first, because on a fridge in this price range it’s worth ruling out everything cheaper. We’re ODP certified for sealed-system work if it comes to that.
-
Is my Viking refrigerator worth repairing?
Almost always. A 36″, 42″ or 48″ Viking built-in is a major purchase that’s fitted into custom cabinetry, and replacement means both the appliance and the millwork. Fan motors, defrost components, thermistors, boards, gaskets, hinges and ice makers are all repairable, and even a sealed-system repair is usually a fraction of replacement. The only case where we’d hesitate is a very old unit with a discontinued control board.
-
Why is my Viking fridge door not sealing, sagging or hard to close?
These are heavy doors on a built-in, and the hinge cam, closer assembly and gasket wear out. A gasket that doesn’t seal lets warm air in, causing frost and short-cycling — it looks like a cooling problem but it’s a door problem. Both the gasket and the hinge assembly are replaceable, and on many models the door can be re-aligned rather than replaced.
-
Why did my Viking ice maker stop or start leaking?
Typical causes are a failed water inlet valve, a frozen or split fill tube, a failed ice maker module, or a clogged water filter restricting flow. Leaks inside the freezer usually trace to the fill tube or a stuck valve. Check the filter and freezer temperature first; if the ice maker still won’t cycle, the module or valve needs testing.
-
Do you repair Viking ranges, ovens and cooktops?
Electric only. We service Viking electric wall ovens, the electric oven section of dual-fuel ranges, and electric and induction cooktops — typical issues are bake and broil elements, temperature sensors, control boards, door hinges and locks. We do not currently service gas ranges, gas cooktops, or the gas burner section of dual-fuel ranges. If your problem is with the gas side, you’ll need a gas-licensed servicer.
-
Do you repair Viking dishwashers?
Yes. Viking dishwashers are less common than the refrigerators, but we service them — drain and wash pumps, inlet valves, door latches and control boards are the usual repairs. Some older Viking dishwashers were built by other manufacturers, so identifying the exact model matters for parts; have the model number from inside the door ready when you book.
-
Are Viking parts available in Canada, and how long do they take?
Yes, through Viking’s Canadian distribution, but Viking parts are model-specific and rarely stocked on a van. Most Viking repairs are a diagnostic visit followed by a return visit to install the part, typically within a week or two depending on the component, with no second service call fee. We order by the exact model and serial number from the rating plate and confirm availability before recommending the repair.
-
My Viking is under manufacturer warranty. Should I call you?
Call Viking first. Warranty repairs must go through a Viking-authorized servicer or the manufacturer voids coverage. Pegasus is an independent repair company and we don’t do warranty work for any brand. Once your warranty has ended, we’re usually faster to schedule than the authorized network.
-
Do you repair Viking appliances in my area?
Yes. We provide Viking appliance repair across Southern Ontario from ten local hubs — Hamilton, Toronto, Mississauga, Vaughan, Oakville, Burlington, Brantford, Kitchener-Waterloo, London and Niagara. See our full service area.
