Miele Washing Machine Leak Repair in Oakville, ON – Door Boot Seal Replacement
This Miele washing machine repair was completed by our Oakville appliance repair team after a customer reported water leaking from the front of their washer during operation.
Leaks around the door area are a common complaint on front-load washing machines. While some leaks are caused by clogged drains or excessive detergent use, physical damage to the door boot seal is another frequent cause that requires replacement.
Diagnosis revealed a damaged door boot seal that was allowing water to escape during wash cycles.
Issue – Miele Washer Leaking Water
The customer contacted us after noticing water leaking from the front of their Miele washing machine during operation.
Water leaks can originate from several different components, including inlet hoses, drain hoses, detergent dispensers, pumps, or the door seal itself. Proper diagnosis is important because replacing the wrong part can result in unnecessary expense without solving the problem.
In this case, the leak appeared only during wash cycles and was concentrated around the front door area.
Diagnosis
Our technician carefully inspected the washer and quickly identified damage to the door boot seal.
The rubber gasket had developed a tear that allowed water to escape from the drum during operation. Over time, these seals can become damaged by sharp objects left in clothing pockets, normal wear and tear, or foreign objects trapped between the drum and gasket.
After confirming that no other components were contributing to the leak, the door boot seal was determined to be the sole cause of the problem.
- Confirmed customer’s leak complaint
- Inspected door boot seal and surrounding components
- Located a tear in the rubber gasket
- Verified no additional sources of leakage
- Confirmed door boot seal replacement was required
Repair Performed
Once the diagnosis was complete, the damaged door boot seal was replaced with a new component.
Replacing a front-load washer gasket requires partial disassembly of the machine and careful installation to ensure a proper seal around the drum opening.
- Removed damaged door boot seal
- Installed new replacement gasket
- Reassembled the washer
- Verified proper door seal fitment
- Tested the machine through operation cycles
- Confirmed leak-free performance
Result
Following the repair, the washing machine completed multiple test cycles without any water leakage.
The customer was able to resume normal use of the appliance with confidence that the leak had been properly repaired.
This repair serves as a reminder that even a small tear in a door gasket can lead to significant water leakage if left unaddressed. Early diagnosis can help prevent water damage and avoid larger repairs down the road.
