Why is my Samsung fridge not cooling but the freezer works?
This is the most common Samsung refrigerator call we get. On Samsung’s twin-cooling French-door and side-by-side models, the fresh-food section has its own evaporator, and it ices over when the defrost system fails — the defrost heater, the defrost sensor (5E code) or the drain gets blocked. The ice then stops the fridge fan (22E/22C code) and cooling drops. Clearing the ice fixes it for a few weeks; the actual repair is the failed defrost part and, on many models, the drain. Why does my Samsung ice maker keep freezing up?
Samsung’s in-fridge ice makers on French-door models are known for it, and the cause is design-related: warm, humid air leaks into the ice compartment through gaps in the housing and freezes over the ice maker and its fan. The permanent repair is Samsung’s updated ice maker assembly plus sealing the compartment, not just defrosting. A 39E or 39C code means the ice maker isn’t cycling; 14E is the ice-maker sensor. If the ice maker has frozen more than once, ask us about the updated assembly.

What do 22E, 21E, 5E, 39E and 84C mean on my Samsung fridge?
22E or 22C is the fridge (fresh-food) fan — not spinning, usually iced up. 21E or 21C is the freezer fan. 5E or 5C is the fridge defrost sensor. 8E is the ice-maker sensor, 39E the ice maker, 41E or 41C the control board. 84C is the one to take seriously: it means the compressor is locked or the inverter can’t drive it, and it needs a technician immediately. Most other codes are fans, sensors or defrost parts and are single-part repairs.

What do 4E, 5E, UE and dC mean on my Samsung washer?
4E or 4C is a water-supply fault — check both taps and the inlet hose screens, then the inlet valve. 5E or 5C is a drain fault, and the fix is usually the pump filter behind the small door at the bottom-front; if it returns, the drain pump has failed. UE or UB means unbalanced load — if it happens every wash, the suspension rods or dampers are worn. dC or dE means the door or lid isn’t confirming locked. 3E or 3C is a motor or hall-sensor fault. LE or LC means the leak sensor found water in the base, and the source has to be found before it runs again.

Why is my Samsung dryer running but not heating, or showing HE or tE?
HE or HC is a heating fault — the heating element has broken or the thermal fuse and high-limit thermostat have opened because of restricted airflow. tE or tC is a thermistor fault. dE is the door switch. Samsung dryers are also known for the drum roller and idler pulley wearing out, which shows up as squealing or thumping. Whatever we replace, we clean the internal lint path and check the vent on the same visit, because a restricted vent is what caused the heating failure and will do it again.

What do 5C, 4C, LC and 7E mean on my Samsung dishwasher?
5C or 5E is a drain fault — clogged filter or a failed drain pump. 4C or 4E is a fill fault, usually the inlet valve or a low-flow supply. LC or LE means the leak sensor in the base has found water, and the dishwasher will keep pumping until the leak is fixed. HC or HE is a heater fault, which shows as dishes not drying. 7E on WaterWall models means the wall reflector has jammed or its motor has failed — a known Samsung-specific fault. OC or OE is a water-level sensor problem.

Are Samsung appliances reliable?
Samsung laundry and cooking appliances hold up well and are worth repairing. Samsung refrigerators have a mixed record: the cooling system is fine, but the ice maker and fresh-food defrost design on many French-door models generate repeat service calls. Knowing which part is the known weak point is most of the diagnosis, and it’s why the same Samsung fridge can be fixed properly once instead of defrosted every month.

If your Samsung is under manufacturer warranty, contact Samsung Canada first; using an independent may void your coverage. Once the warranty has ended, we’re usually faster to schedule than the authorized network.
