Here are the questions Fisher & Paykel owners in Southern Ontario ask us most, with straight answers from our technicians:

  • What does F1 mean on a Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer?

    F1 is the most common DishDrawer fault. It means the flood switch in the base tray has detected water, and the drawer locks and runs the drain pump continuously. Common causes are a drawer packed too high so the lid didn’t seal, excess suds from the wrong detergent, a cracked sump hose or worn lid seal, or a flood-switch float that’s stuck up. If the tray is dry and F1 comes back, the leak is inside the unit and needs to be found — don’t keep running it. We’ve written a full DishDrawer troubleshooting guide if you want to check the simple causes first.

  • What do F2, A1 and A3 mean on a DishDrawer?

    F2 is a motor or rotor fault — the wash pump isn’t turning, usually because glass or debris is jammed under the spray arm, or the rotor itself has failed. A1 (or U1) means no water is getting in: check the tap and inlet hose, then the inlet valve. A3 is a drain fault — a blocked filter, kinked hose or a drain pump that’s stopped. Every DishDrawer drawer has its own pump, motor and controller, so a fault in one drawer doesn’t affect the other.

  • My DishDrawer is locked shut with an error. How do I open it?

    The drawer locks on purpose when there’s water in the base. Turn off the power at the breaker or unplug the unit and wait a few minutes; the lock releases when the controller resets. If it stays locked, the base still has water in it or the flood switch is stuck, and the bottom drawer has to be released manually at the side tabs. We do this on the diagnostic visit if you’d rather not.

  • Are DishDrawer parts still available, and are they worth repairing?

    Yes on both. Fisher & Paykel supports DishDrawers well: rotors, lid seals, lid actuators, drain pumps, flood switches and controllers are all available in Canada, usually within a week. A DishDrawer is expensive to replace and sits in custom cabinetry, so almost every DishDrawer repair makes financial sense — the exception is a very old DD603 with multiple failing components, and we’ll tell you if that’s what we’re looking at.

  • My Fisher & Paykel top-load washer stops mid-cycle and shows a fault code. What’s typical?

    Fisher & Paykel SmartDrive top-loaders display a numeric fault code on the console. The ones we see most point to a blocked or failed drain pump, a lid lock or lid switch fault, or a diverter valve issue on models with the recirculation feature. Out-of-balance loads and a machine that has “walked” on the floor are also common on these washers because of how much they spin. Most of these are single-part repairs done in one visit.

  • My Fisher & Paykel fridge isn’t cooling or is frosting up. Is it the compressor?

    Usually not. Fisher & Paykel ActiveSmart fridges use an electronic control system with variable-speed fans and a defrost cycle managed by the main board. The common failures are the defrost system icing over the evaporator, a fan motor, a sensor or the control board itself. We test those before condemning the sealed system. If it is the compressor, we’re ODP certified for sealed-system work and will give you an honest verdict on whether the repair is worth it.

  • Do you repair Fisher & Paykel induction cooktops and built-in ovens?

    Yes — induction cooktops, electric ranges, and built-in single, double and companion ovens. Typical issues are induction zones not detecting cookware, touch controls not responding, an oven that heats unevenly or not at all, and door locks that fail during self-clean. We do not service Fisher & Paykel gas cooktops or gas ranges.

  • My Fisher & Paykel is under manufacturer warranty. Should I call you?

    Call Fisher & Paykel first. Warranty repairs must go through an F&P-authorized servicer or the manufacturer voids coverage. Pegasus is an independent repair company and handles out-of-warranty service. Once your warranty has ended, we’re usually faster to schedule than the authorized network.
